About this Project
The Western Wisconsin Covid Archive is a rapid-response collection effort to document and archive everyday memories, experiences, and effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in Western Wisconsin communities. The project is a collaboration between the Public History Program and McIntyre Library at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the Chippewa Valley Museum. Creating the site as well as collecting and preserving content was a component of UWEC Public History courses from 2020- 2022.
The archive is dedicated to preserving oral histories and digital artifacts related to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as facilitiating open-access to these materials. Our goal is to create a repository that may serve as an important resource to help future scholars, students, policymakers, and researchers better understand the effects of the public health crisis in western Wisconsin and rural areas of the midwest.
